International Dive School Hikkaduwa Trincomalee Sri Lanka – Somey and Sachi
Come diving with International Dive School Hikkaduwa Trincomalee Sri Lanka Somey and Sachi. Somey or as he is formally known, “R.K. Somadasa De Silva”, is the founder of the International Diving School in Hikkaduwa. This started off as his Marine Sanctuary, Hikkaduwa “down south” on the south western shores of Sri Lanka.
The school is now in it’s second generation and is managed by Somey’s beloved son Sachin. “Sachi” has an infectious friendly character – he is another devoted diver and takes after his father in many things – especially his love of the sea – above and below !
Sachi has implemented some great plans keeping the school and marine sanctuary inline with international standards to improve your diving experience.
Diving with Somey, Sachi and his well trained crew of more than 20 years experience give you a guarantee for fun adventure and friendly atmosphere. All staff are well trained dive masters and assistant instructors. They organize daily dive trips with our speed boats. On these boats they have Oxygen, GPS and other first aid equipment.
The IDS boat captains have been trained by Coastal Safety International and additionally hold RYA Qualifications.

PADI: Professional Association of Diving Instructors
The PADI System of diver education is based on progressive training that introduces skills, safety-related information and local environmental knowledge to student divers in stages. PADI courses are student-centered and provide maximum practice and realistic application.

CMAS: Confédération Mondiale des Activités Subaquatiques
CMAS enables divers to undertake accompanied no-decompression dives to a maximum depth of twenty meters. CMAS describes that a One Star Diver shall be deemed “to have sufficient knowledge, skill and experience to procure air, equipment, and other diving services and to plan, conduct, and log open-water dives that do not require mandatory in-water decompression stops, without the supervision of a CMAS Instructor or CMAS Dive Leader, when properly equipped and accompanied by another certified diver of at least the same level, provided the diving activities undertaken, the diving conditions and the diving area are similar, equal or better to those in which training was received”.
